I know... shocker... I actually posted something!
As most of you know, Justin had ear tubes put in about a month ago. He instantly showed signs that he could hear things he wasn't hearing before... and began making new sounds! He even said, "ME!" That was exciting to us considering he'll be 3 in May and can only say, Mom.
He can sign over 100 signs. Communication is not a problem, but speech is.
Well, the fun wore off. He isn't so excited about speaking after all. He can make many sounds... b, d, h, k, l, m, n, p... but only when he is babbling. I know it will come... but in the mean time... I need to work on it with him along with other things such as colors, matching, etc. He starts BIG BOY pre-school the 1st of May! He has been attending Early Intervention pre-school every Tuesday and a speech therapist comes to our house twice per month. He can sign over 100 signs. Communication is not a problem, but speech is.
My girls are currently off track... and LOVING every minute of it so far. They are my biggest helpers. So I had a plan...
I start with a COLOR of the day. Today.... RED.
Can't have red day with out the red shirt!
We will continue each day with a different color in the container.
I have also started to focus on one "turtle vowel" each day. Then we use and abuse that sound whenever we have the opportunity to. Oh... it's annoying... but I kind of think it might be working! Today was "A." (long sound) So you better believe that EVERY SINGLE TIME I called April's name, we focused on that "A" sound! Not to mention all the long "A" sounds that are used in books, food, toys... you catch my drift!
If he could just add these long vowel sounds to the b, d, h, k, l, m, n, p sounds that he knows... he'd have some words! Bye, hi, my, me, no... etc.
Maybe... just maybe, in my next post... he might be making more sounds!

I love the color of the day! Great idea!
Wow...What great ideas!!! I am sure it will pay off soon! I cant to wait hear about the progress.
100 signs - that's awesome! So glad Max isn't the only one who isn't verbal. He doesn't say a single word, only makes the d sound and only signs 'doggy'. :)
So glad he is making progress, and you are doing a great job. He is such a handsome little guy.
AWESOME!
I love the color idea we will have to try that. Thanks for sharing!!
we did the color of the week for william when he was younger we even had a colored plate and sometimes went as far as finding food that particular color. It does get "annoying" but it is worth it.
I am so thankful for my girls. I always say william is not as far along as he is b/c of ME, it is b/c of his SISTERS who love him so much and wont let off either :)
Awesome idea! I am finding my three girls are the biggest help with Russell...Older sisters are the BEST!
So cute! And I'm sure your girls are such big help with this, too! I'm sure Justin is loving all the things you may be finding "annoying"! :) I'm excited to read the next post about lots of new sounds!
That is such a great idea. Where did you get that wooden color peg thing? I need one for Sam. It he and Sam are so on the same level. Sam says alot of sounds but only can really say Daddy. He sometimes says Momma but very rarely. He can sign a ton and we can communicate but now real words. He knows his signs for colors so the little contraption you have would be so perfect for him as well. Let me know where you got it and thanks for sharing.
what a great idea! I love it!
What a wonderful idea! They are such CUTIES!!! xoxo
You are so creative! Little man is impressive...I can't wait to hear what he does next!
That is awesome!! Justin will be picking up words in no time at all. Mattie has started picking up lots of new words and she just turned three.
Awesome! I love all your ideas!
